Born and raised in Scotland, New Millennium aka singer, songwriter and producer Martin Ward, moved to the Yorkshire countryside during his formative teenager years.
“Growing up, music was definitely an escape. I poured over music videos and I was obsessed with the manufactured pop sound of the late 90s/early 00s. I set my sights on becoming singer or dancer, auditioning for pop bands and later, for Xenomania when they were looking to develop a new act.”
Later in the mid noughties, alternative culture was rife and it was only a matter of time before Martin’s interest in pure pop evolved.
“I became really interested in the electro and indie scene, electronic textures and synthesisers.
"The New Millennium sound is a real mash-up of these two influences and my approach to pop definitely borrows production techniques from dance genres."
